Name and Status

Stichting Santi Dhamma Vipassana Meditatie Centrum Nederland is a non-profit foundation established under the laws of the Netherlands and has its registered seat in Amsterdam.

The Dutch abbreviation ANBI means “Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling”, or Public Benefit Organization. Institutions can only be qualified as a public benefit organization if at least 90% of their efforts are focused on the common good. Santi Dhamma is in the process of being awarded the ANBI status.

Objectives

The objectives of the Foundation are:

  • the promotion of Buddhist teachings (Theravada) in the tradition of the Thai teacher, Most Venerable Phra Prom Mongkol Vi (Venerable Phra Ajarn Tong Sirimangalo).
  • teaching and practicing Vipassana meditation (Satipatthana Vipassana Kammathana, insight meditation based on the four foundations of mindfulness) by organizing and conducting courses and meditation retreats.
  • contributing to a peaceful and tolerant society through promoting and teaching mindfulness techniques (Vipassana meditation), which stimulate self-knowledge and self-regulation.
  • as also to accept bequests with the benefit of inventory and to perform all such further acts and activities as are in the widest sense connected therewith, incidental thereto and/or which may be conducive thereto.

Remuneration policy

Supervisory and Executive Board members are unpaid. They receive no remuneration or expense allowance. They do have the right to request compensation for costs incurred, such as travel expenses or telephone costs.

Financial accountability

Santi Dhamma’s financial resources may consist of subsidies, donations, bequests, assets acquired by testamentary disposition, and any further revenues.
